For second time in his career Kubrat Pulev is a winner in the most prestigious and oldest international boxing tournament in Europe -“Strandja cup”. After becoming the 53rd winner in 2002 in category to 91 kg, this time the Cobra triumphed at the heaviest, +91 kg in Plovdiv. The 24-year-old boxer from CSKA’s school was the most acclaimed participant in the ring tournament. He also offered the most spectacular and attractive game from his first fight to the final, when he met the weighing 15 kilograms more of him than Islam Timurziev.
Pulev overcame the Russian by 26:15 withholding all the unclear blows of their rival who deserved to be disqualified, but the judges did not, even though they had reason to do so. This was the first tournament in which Kubrat Pulev competes in the hardest. So far he has been boxing in the lower category, up to 91 kg.
