Bulgarian boxer won the final of 91 kg category in the hometown of great Beatles
Kubrat Pulev became European boxing champion in category over 91 kg. At the finals in the hometown of the famous musical group The Beatles – Liverpool Bulgarian Cobra beat Denis Sergeev (Russia) on points.
After the last stroke of the bell the judges recorded a 9:2 points in favor of Pulev. So our country won 1 gold and 1 silver medal at the 38th European championship for amateurs, which ended this evening in Liverpool.
In the final of the 54 kg category Detelin Dalakliev lost on points of Luke Campbell (England) and finished second.
Kubrat Pulev was born on May 4, 1981 in Sofia. He is the bigger son of the famous heavyweight boxer of the 50s and 60s of the last century Venko Pulev. He was awarded the bronze medal at the World Cup in China in 2005 and in 2002 was awarded the most valuable trophy in Bulgarian boxing – Strandja Cup.
Kubrat Pulev has won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Plovdiv in 2006. He participated at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. Throughout his racing career Kubrat is part of CSKA where he works with his personal trainer Michael Takov. Pulev is a sergeant in the Bulgarian army.
