Loved. Respected. A role model. Inspiration. Bright spot in the daily grind. This is Kubrat Pulev. Today he gathered dozens of compatriots and foreign guests at his open workout before the bout against Samuel Peter for the Intercontinental title of the World Boxing Association.
After 23 wins on the professional ring and 12 knockouts, Kubrat is counting the days until his emotional and historical first appearance in front of his home crowd. The big day for him is this Saturday, at “Arena Armeec” in Sofia.
„This time everything is different. Because this is my homeland, this my home town, the city I was born and the city I grown up. This is my nation, these are my people, we are one blood. It’s a huge honor for me that I have the chance to make this country proud with me and to give to all my countrymen a little time of joy and happiness”, said Kubrat after the open practice.
“I’m fully motivated to succeed. I’m totally concentrated and I think only about the Saturday bout. I want to discourage Samuel Peter. I can’t make mistake. I can’t afford to make mistake. I just don’t have any right for wrong step. And I know nobody will forgive me if I lose”, added Pulev.
