Kubrat Pulev is the best athlete of Bulgaria for December 2016. Bulgarian heavyweight pride won the prestigious Press Club Bulgaria award by unanimous vote. The award held since 1998.
All sports editors in Bulgaria voted for the Intercontinental champion of the WBA. On December 3rd, in front of 16 000 spectators at the “Arena Armeec” in Sofia Kubrat won the belt with a knockout against Samuel Peter.
Pulev triumphed in the poll for the ninth time in his career. In 2008 he was №1 twice (February and November). In 2011 Kubrat was at the peak of October. In 2012 – in May, in 2013 he dominated again in two months (August and December). In May 2016 he conquered the top after his second European heavyweight title. In May 2016 in Hamburg, Bulgarian sporting hero won over Derek Chisora in a huge, 12-round battle.
