After an intensive, almost three-month preparation in Berlin, Kubrat Pulev, the Intercontinental WBA champion, returned to Bulgaria. On Friday, he will defend his belt against Kevin Johnson. The American contender landed an hour after Bulgarian heavyweight pride did it from Germany. Together with Kubrat, in Bulgaria arrived and his personal head coach Uli Wegner.
“I am always happy to be at home and I wanted to box for the second time in front of a Bulgarian audience, because the feeling of entering the arena and seeing the stands filled with Bulgarians cannot compare to anything. I trained very seriously for this match and I come to defend my title. This is another important step in my career”, said Kubrat on his arrival at Sofia Airport.
Later today Kubrat Pulev and Kevin Johnson will hold a press conference ahead of the boxing gala “Final Cpuntdown”, which is on Friday at Arena “Armeec”.
